Member News > Let's Focus on the North
Background:
The proposed Northside Regional Community Centre will have a regional scope to directly serve residents north of 67 Street, and will focus on providing holistic and multi-sectoral programming and services to meet the needs of families, seniors, youth, new Canadians, and adult groups with specific emphasis on programming in recreation, culture and
social service areas. All Red Deer residents, however, will be able to take advantage of the space and services the proposed facility would offer.
The proposed site for the Northside Regional Community Centre is in the City owned park space west of Glendale School although conversations with the school board and stakeholders continue to explore opportunities to determine the best space and location for a facility like this.
At this point we’ve developed a draft program statement (outline of potential uses) based on what we’ve heard so far. Now we need you to reconfi rm that we’re heading in the right direction. On May 31, 2012 we began a five-month long community consultation process and next is a series of seven special focus groups happening between September 18 - October 4, 2012.
We’d love to hear from you and include you in this journey of determining if a new facility is needed in north Red Deer and how you think this space should look, feel and function.
Please consider registering in the session outlined in this invitation - your input is valued.
