Business and Government: Economic Allies or Adversaries Luncheon
Join us as we welcome Allan Seabrooke - the City of Red Deer's new City Manager.
Recent research from the University of Calgary School of Public Policy, concluded that the number one issue for municipalities regardless of size is economic development, since job creation and attracting investment are key for a healthy municipality.
Businesses are extremely important to the economy because they provide goods, services and jobs. Over the last two decades, extensive literature on the importance of businesses in the economy has consistently shown that retention, expansion and creation of new businesses and services drives economic prosperity.
Given the fact that economic development is the number one issue for cities logic supports the notion of businesses and government as economic development allies. The purpose of the presentation is to explore this notion.
